This Privacy Policy explains how the LoadTide Freight Helper Chrome extension (“LoadTide”, “we”) handles information. It covers only the extension. The loadtide.com news website has its own privacy policy.
1. Summary
- LoadTide works inside your browser. The data it uses is stored locally in your Chrome profile.
- We do not sell data, we do not show ads, and we do not use analytics or tracking.
- If you connect Gmail, LoadTide can only send email that you approve. It cannot read your email.
- Rate confirmations you drop into the Assistant Tracker are read on your computer and never uploaded.
- Factoring credit checks (optional) use your own factoring login and go only to your factoring company.
2. Information the extension uses
- DAT One pages and session. Page content such as broker MC numbers, phone numbers, cities, miles, rates and equipment, plus your DAT session token and your current load search criteria. These are used to show ratings, fuel estimates, rate-per-mile figures and load counts, and to count loads from a delivery city with the same filters as your search. Requests go only to DAT, using your own session.
- RTS Pro session. Your RTS Pro session token, used to look up the RTS credit rating of broker MC numbers. Requests go only to RTS.
- Factoring credit check (only if you click “Enable Triumph” or “Enable Compass”). The broker MC numbers shown on the page are looked up in your own factoring account to show the credit decision, credit limit, rating, average days to pay and any stolen-identity or no-buy note. For Triumph, LoadTide picks up the sign-in token from the MyTriumph page you have open and keeps it only in your browser. The token expires after about an hour; to renew it, LoadTide opens MyTriumph in a background tab, picks up the new token from your existing MyTriumph login and closes the tab. For Compass, the request uses your existing Compass login in Chrome: LoadTide may pick up the sign-in token from the Compass page you have open (kept only in your browser), or run the lookup inside your open Compass tab. Your password is never seen or stored. Requests go only to your factoring company (api-gateway.triumphbcap.com, http://www.mytriumph.com, cfs.compassstore.net), one broker at a time, and the answers are kept in your browser for up to 12 hours.
- Sylectus page content (only if you click “Enable Sylectus”). Broker MC numbers, cities, miles, posted amount, and the broker’s contact email from the order profile page, which is read only when you click “Email” or “Map & RPM”.
- Your price history (only if you add it). Spreadsheets you connect (Google Sheets links, a company link you paste, or a file you import) are downloaded to show your last price for similar lanes. They are stored locally only.
- Fuel prices. Public daily diesel price averages by state. No personal data is sent.
- Calculator and fuel settings. The numbers you type in the load calculator are used only on the page to work out fuel cost and profit. Your MPG settings and your driver pay per mile are saved locally in your browser so you do not have to type them again. They are not sent anywhere.
- Email templates and signature. The templates, settings and signature (including any logo image) you create. They are saved in Chrome storage. Chrome may sync your templates across your own signed-in Chrome browsers.
- Copy button. When you click Copy, the email for that load (To, Subject and message) is placed on your computer’s clipboard. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Maps. When you open the email window or the Map & RPM window, LoadTide shows a map that you can zoom and move. Map images are loaded from Esri. To draw the road route, the approximate coordinates of the pickup, delivery and truck cities are sent to the OpenStreetMap routing service (OSRM). No personal information is included. City coordinates are looked up locally from a built-in city list.
- Welcome and What’s new pages. After you install the extension, it opens the Getting started page on loadtide.com once. After an update, it opens the What’s new page in a background tab. The link contains only the extension version number. No personal data, account data or browsing data is sent.
3. Assistant Tracker
- Rate confirmations. When you drop a rate confirmation (PDF) on DAT One, LoadTide reads it in your browser to fill in the broker, load number, rate, stops and reference numbers (PO#, PU#, Appt#). Scanned (picture) rate confirmations are read with text recognition that also runs entirely on your computer. The PDF and the load are stored locally in your browser and are never uploaded to us. You can delete a load at any time.
- Drivers. The driver names, truck numbers, phone numbers, emails and driver type you enter (or import from Mr ELD) are stored locally in your browser. You can delete a driver at any time.
- Messages to drivers. WhatsApp and Viber buttons open the app on your computer with the message already written. Nothing is sent until you press Send in that app. “Email + RC” sends the message from your own Gmail with the rate confirmation attached, only when you click it (see section 4).
- Mr ELD (only if your company uses Mr ELD and you connect it). LoadTide signs in to Mr ELD (api.mreldapp.com) with your own Mr ELD login, or uses the Mr ELD login already open in your Chrome. Your password goes only to Mr ELD and is not stored; LoadTide keeps only the sign-in token in your browser. LoadTide only reads truck location, last update time, speed, duty status and hours left, to compare the truck with the pickup and delivery. It never changes anything in Mr ELD. Disconnect at any time in the Drivers tab.
- Typed truck location. Without Mr ELD you can type where a truck is. It is stored locally only.
- Address lookup (optional, only if you turn it on). To measure an exact distance, the pickup or delivery street address is sent to the free US Census Bureau geocoder (geocoding.geo.census.gov). Only the address is sent, with no personal information. Without it, LoadTide uses the city centre from its built-in city list.
- Updates. While you have active loads, LoadTide checks the truck location every few minutes (more often near pickup or delivery) and shows updates on DAT One. The suggested updates for the broker are written locally and are sent only when you click “Email broker”.
4. Gmail and Google user data
If you choose “Connect Gmail”, LoadTide uses Google Sign-In and requests these permissions:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send: to send the email you write or approve in LoadTide to the broker, driver or factoring contact you choose (for example an identity check), from your own Gmail account (for an owner operator, with the rate confirmation attached).openidandemail: to know which of your Gmail accounts is connected, so the email is sent from the account you selected.
LoadTide does not read, search, modify, delete or store your Gmail messages. The content of an email is sent directly from your browser to Google’s Gmail API when you click Send, and it is not sent to us or to anyone else. The access token from Google is kept in your browser’s temporary storage only, and it is deleted when you disconnect or when the browser closes. The list of connected email addresses and a short record of which loads you emailed (kept for 3 days) are stored locally in your browser.
LoadTide’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising. We do not sell it or transfer it to third parties. We do not use it to train AI or machine-learning models. No person reads it.
5. Sharing
We do not share, sell or rent your information. Data leaves your browser only as described above: to DAT, RTS, Sylectus, Mr ELD, your factoring company and Google, using your own sessions and your own actions; to the map and routing services described in section 2 (city coordinates only); and, if you turn it on, to the US Census geocoder (stop addresses only). Nothing is ever sent to LoadTide.
6. Security and local storage
All requests use HTTPS. The extension does not run code downloaded from the internet. Session tokens are stored only in your browser. Settings are kept in Chrome’s extension storage; larger data such as saved credit answers, routes, market data and rate confirmation files is kept in a local database inside your browser profile (IndexedDB). Neither leaves your computer.
7. Your choices and deleting data
- Clear data: click “Clear cache” in the extension popup, or remove the extension. Removing it deletes all locally stored data.
- Loads and drivers: delete a load or a driver in the Assistant Tracker at any time.
- Factoring: click “Turn off Triumph” or “Turn off Compass” in the popup. LoadTide removes the permission, the saved credit answers and the saved sign-in token, and stops renewing the Triumph sign-in.
- Disconnect Mr ELD: Drivers tab → Mr ELD → Disconnect.
- Disconnect Gmail: use Edit email templates → Disconnect in the extension, or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Sylectus, factoring, price sheets, Mr ELD and the address lookup are optional and can be turned off at any time.
8. Children
LoadTide is a business tool for freight professionals. It is not intended for children under 16.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Important changes will be announced in the extension’s Chrome Web Store listing.
